What TV Should I Buy?

-

When it comes to buying television sets, all you want is to get the best quality picture and also a wide range of features. Expectations of customers have increased over a period of years due to the new technology that is introduced so regularly these days. People keep wondering what TV should I buy since there are so many different types available. The number of features has also increased. Plasma which was a trend few seasons back was replaced by LCD and now LED TVs are the latest trend. All this definitely leaves the buyer confused as to what TV should I buy.

If you are not going to buy a TV which has the latest features, then you will definitely repent. Hence when you are thinking of what TV should I buy then it is better that you do a proper survey. There is a lot of information on the internet these days regarding the various brands available and even the feature comparison. There are even internet enabled television sets these days and you may want it in case you have a good budget and want to buy an expensive TV for a long term. This is a very important consideration when deciding what TV should I buy.

Whether it is an average spender or someone who has lots of money to buy a TV, everyone wants to buy a good quality one and does not want to compromise on the features. This is why most brands come up with TVs of different price ranges which have almost similar technology. But for the latest and high tech features, one has to spend a little extra. You need to be clear as to what is your criterion when you think what TV should I buy. Generally this year there were quite a few TVs that were introduced in different price segments for the convenience of customers.

Firstly decide a budget when deciding what TV should I buy. For people who have a restricted or modest budget but yet want to enjoy most of the features, then the Sony KDL – 32CX523 which is 32 inch in size is a good option. There are many other brands that may cost a little lesser in the same size and feature range but you may have to compromise on quality of picture or something else. The Sony TV uses the CCFL and not the LED technology. The prices may vary if you want a bigger TV.

It is best to decide what size of TV you want when contemplating on what TV should I buy. This will make your search easier. Another television in a slight higher price range is the LG 42LW550T. This TV can also be used to access your social networking sights and has every modern feature that you would want in your TV when you decide what TV should I buy. The higher the price range, the better is the quality and features. Even modest budget TVs are good options so you can definitely be satisfied with what you will receive at the low price too.

Plasma vs LCD vs LED

-

These 3 technologies are different in lots of ways, paricularly in how each of these screans is lit. In plasma TVs, there are self lighting phosphors that creat the image on the screen and they do not require any backlighting.

However, for LCD TVs, there is a liquid crystal screen which does not illuminate. Thus, requiring a separate light source which brings us to the difference between LCD and LED TVs/Screens. Traditional LCS TVs use cold cathode fluorescent lights to fully illuminate the screen which use a charged gas to produce that light. LED screens as its name might suggest, use light emitting diodes (LEDs) to fully illuminate the display.

You are probably wondering which is the ideal TV display to choose from between the Plasma, LCD and LEDs out there. There are several factors that would aid your decision such as ennergy efficiency, price, brightness and the size/thickness of the TV. LED comes in the best when it comes to energy efficiency and size, however, the price tag might not be the most encouraging as LED screens can cost an extra few hundred bucks over the regular LCD.

Which TV should I buy?

-

I would like to buy a TV but since there are literally hundreds of options, I am kind of overwhelmed. I am looking for one that is between 32-42" and a brand that is not unknown. 1080 and preferably less than 0 but I am open to suggestions for something that is worth it.

Buying television distribution rights…?

-

This is probably one of the strangest, most self-entitled things anyone is ever going to see, but, plainly put, I want to buy the rights to a television show (presumably) owned by the Viacom conglomerate. My intent is to adapt this into a screen play, and from there, begin a fundraiser to raise money for a full-length feature film.

Big dreamer, right? I’m here because I don’t sit around and dream all day, if that’s what you’re wondering.

So how do I go about doing this?

Buying an HD TV of good quality?

-

Well my family has owned the same 32 inch TV since 1990. I am looking into buying my dad one for his birthday. I also know I want it to be 1080i not 720i. I dont really want to go over a grand especially in the economy and all but I do want to get my dad one that will last and still be an all around crisp clean TV. I have talked to another one of my brothers and some friends too and they all say that I should buy Sony because it is the best. I really dont know what is the best. I have noticed the screens in stores (bestbuy, circuitcity, sears, ect..) that the Sonys have a clearer, brighter, and all around crisper picture than any of the others. I do not know if this is a setting on the TV you can change for brightness or if they are just of higher quality. I am searching in the 32-40ish range. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Also if you could point me to sites that will have special deals or lower prices on tv’s I would be greatly obliged.

Out for a new TV: LCD, LED, or plasma TV?

-

After having to use an old TV throughout my college days (the coaxial connection in the back of it is now loose, rendering a pain in the ass to connect different devices), I’m getting a new TV for black Friday. I just need a little help deciding whether to get a 51" plasma for 500dlls, a 42" LED for 700dlls (mind you, I can find a cheaper LED model by switching brands), or a 46" LCD for 500dlls. Should I go for size or technology? Much appreciated!

-

So I just bought an Emerson LC320EM2 Television.

It says HD, but I’m not sure if this TV is any good or what the specs are (1080p or 720p, 60hz or 120hz)
Does anyone know anything about this TV?

This has specs, but I’m not sure what it means..
It says 1366×768 does this mean it’s 720p?

stuck between a rock and a LED LCD tv.?

-

I am about to buy LED LCD tv,47 inch 240hz 1080p Vizio. I am buying it now because I will never get a deal like this again. I am really worried because a guy at best but has told me that comcast doesn’t broadcast in1080p only 720i. I see how good all the tv look in the stores that’s only because they are hooked up to blue rays. I wonder how they will look hooked up to normal cable lets say com cast. I also wonder being hooked up to normal cable will it be fuzzy or will their be ghosting? If so is it really worth it at all to get a HI def tv at all. I mean if the only way I will get a good pitcher is watching a blue ray or ording hd channels. It still might not be worth it. I know a LED LCD will not turn regular cable into blue ray but I just don’t want the pitcher to be all messed up blurry ghosting lagging. Just make regular cables pitcher a little better. WHAT DO YOU THINK???

Upgrading from flat TV to LCD or Plasma TV?

-

Hi! :D

We need to know:

- The difference between LCD TV and Plasma TV, and which one is a better choice for us.

- Which brand (Samsung, LG, Sharp, Sony, etc) is the most popular and reliable? Also, which brand is the most user-friendly and lasts longest in terms of years?

- Does screen size matter? i.e. 32" 50" and so on… (We are looking at the 32" currently, but size is negotiable).

- Speakers, woofers – optional for us to buy or not?
What about sound quality in general?

- Ports: HDMI, S-video, AVG port, USB, audio, video, etc…? We are mainly interested in the idea of being able to connect the laptop screen to the TV screen using the AVG or S-video cable so we need some feedback on this too. ;)

- If we connect laptop to TV screen which one gives better picture quality, AVG cable or S-video?

- What is all this "10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio" and "8,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio" ? Which one is a better choice in terms of price?

- Wall mount, normal base? We want the normal base type by the way.

- Which type requires less power consumption, LCD or Plasma?
Also, which one is more commonly used worldwide?

-Facilities, menus… Any advise? Bugs? (if any) :D

-Do these kinds of TV’s have firmware in them? If so, do they need firmware upgrade from time to time?

To sum up, Samsung LCD 32" LA32A330 caught our eyes (it looks beautiful and glossy!). Is it good for family use? Brands are negotiable of course, and we are not looking at spending more than 462 USD, at least for now. :)

A detailed/specific explanation from experienced users is much appreciated :D
Just to clear things up. This TV is not intended for gaming as we don’t own any gaming console(s) :D
Typo above:

Instead of AVG, it is VGA :D

Can you recommend an LCD TV for me?

-

I’m lost in this sea of choices. I only have a few requirements and now I’m having trouble finding a highly reviewed TV with all of my needs.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

- LCD
- 2ms response time (I suppose 4ms would be OK. I’m using it as a PC monitor/gaming so this is VERY important)
- 1080p
- 46"
- 120hz or higher
- Low gloss screen (I have a lot of windows)
- Decent reviews would be good
- I need to mount it on the wall above a fireplace. Is this possible will any TV as long as a I have the correct mounting device?
- Preferably under 00, but if necessary I’ll budge to get what I want.

Any suggestions or insight would be very greatly appreciated. Just trying to find a decent starting point.

I’m gonna work hard to make sure I’m happy with my purchase before pulling the trigger. It’s a good chunk of change for me.

Thanks in advance.
